Questions

Is this for me?

The honest answers to the things people ask before they book. If your question isn't here, email me, I'll always reply.

What actually happens in a session?
We meet online over Google Meet. We begin with coaching around what is happening and how it shows up in your body. I then teach or guide the breathing practice that fits the work. Some sessions include a longer conscious connected breath, while others focus on short tools you can use in daily life.
Does it work online?
Yes. The Arc is offered online, worldwide. You'll need a quiet, private room, headphones and enough space to sit or lie down comfortably.
How much does it cost?
We can talk through the investment and any payment options on the free call. There is no pressure to decide during the conversation.
Is this therapy?
No. Breathwork uses deliberate changes in breathing to influence your physical and mental state. It can sit alongside therapy and clinical care, but it doesn't replace either. If you're in acute crisis or under active psychiatric care, please talk to your clinician before booking.
Are there any medical reasons I shouldn't do this?
Sustained conscious breathing is generally safe, but it isn't right for everyone. Please talk to me first if you have: cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, epilepsy, recent surgery, glaucoma or detached retina, severe asthma, a personal or family history of aneurysm, bipolar or psychotic conditions, or if you are pregnant. The intake form covers this, and we'll always talk it through together.
Will I feel something?
Most people notice a physical change. Tingling in the hands and face can happen during sustained breathing. You may also notice warmth, reduced tension or quieter thoughts. Each session is different and I monitor your response throughout.
Why is The Arc a six-week programme?
Regulation is a skill built through repetition. The Arc gives you six weekly sessions, daily practice, support between sessions and a check-in one month later. That gives you time to learn the tools, use them in real situations and adjust them with support.
Do I need breathwork experience to join The Arc?
No. Most people who come to The Arc are new to breathwork. I explain the technique, guide each session and adjust the practice to your experience.
Who is The Arc for?
The Arc is for people dealing with anxiety, persistent tiredness, overthinking or a lack of direction. It suits people who want structured support, can commit to a short daily practice and are ready to make practical changes.
Can I reschedule or cancel?
Yes. Life happens. With at least 48 hours' notice we'll find another time at no cost. Cancellations under 24 hours may count as a session held. Email me directly at joe.macgowan@hotmail.com.
What is your refund and no-show policy?
For The Arc: if after the first session you feel it isn't the right fit, tell me within 48 hours and we'll discuss a fair path forward. Sessions can be rescheduled with at least 48 hours' notice. Missed sessions and late cancellations are not refunded.
